    MASTER OF SCIENCE (MS) IN GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY-
    PATHWAY TO A PsyD

    There is more to the field of psychology than traditional clinical practice. If you are looking for an online master’s in psychology degree program with a non-clinical focus and you already hold a master’s degree in another field, then CalSouthern’s MS in General Psychology degree program might be right for you. Completion of this degree will also create a pathway to eligibility to apply to the CalSouthern PsyD program. MS program graduates can transfer up to four courses into the PsyD program. The MS program can also be a stepping-stone to potential career opportunities requiring a master’s degree in psychology1 And, like all of CalSouthern’s offerings, it is designed to meet the needs of busy adult learners.

    No, completion of this master’s degree program does not guarantee admission to CalSouthern’s PsyD program. However, completion of the MS in General Psychology degree program, or a degree program in a related field, is required in order to be eligible to apply to and be admitted to the PsyD program.

    The MS in General Psychology degree program is designed for learners who already hold a master’s degree in another field. This program focuses on the theoretical and research aspects of psychology for those seeking opportunities in various fields that require a master’s degree, which may include consulting or research. This program is also designed to provide a firm foundation in psychology necessary to pursue doctoral level study at CalSouthern (PsyD). In contrast, the CalSouthern MS in Psychology degree program is designed for learners who have earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field and want to include a specialization as part of their degree.
